Fair Trade…what is it?

To us, fair trade should be a common sense business practice when working with artisans in the developing world. But unfortunately, it’s not very common yet.

So to get a little more specific…fair trade is a growing international approach to trade aimed at equalizing the world’s playing field. It is an alternative way of doing business - one that builds equitable, long-term partnerships between consumers in the western world and producers in developing regions. Its just good karma!

Basically, fair trade means that the items shown in this catalog are produced with integrity. It means that our (and subsequently your) purchases enable the hardworking artisans to earn a living wage.

Businesses practicing fair trade principles commit to paying fair wages, offering financial and technical assistance, engaging in environmental sustainable practices, and being open to public accountability.

Most importantly, fair trade is a refreshing alternative to sweatshop conditions, and a way to effect real social change.

WorldFinds is committed to fair trade principles and practices, and is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation.
